Department of Civil Engineering

Researcher at the Department of Civil Engineering

Department of Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering aims to build the structures of tomorrow through research, education and collaboration. The department is built around its strengths in system knowledge, computation, modelling and knowledge management.

The department conducts both basic scientific research as well as applied research, both of which are required for high-quality education at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Research

At the Department of Civil Engineering, we use our expertise to create multidisciplinary, solution-oriented approaches and solutions in cooperation with domestic and international partners who represent a variety of fields.

Research at the department is backed by extensive facilities and focused on building design and construction as well as mineral-based materials and mechanics. The department cooperates with industry on a number of important topics, including construction management, concrete technology, indoor air quality science and technology and geoengineering.

Performance in building design and construction

The Performance in Building Design and Construction group aims to realise the potential performance gains offered by accelerating technological and process development.
